Etihad Airways has officially inaugurated its first flight to Atlanta, marking a significant step in the airline’s ongoing North American expansion. The inaugural service from Abu Dhabi to Atlanta touched down on July 2, 2025, connecting the capital of the UAE with the economic hub of the southeastern United States. The launch of the new route adds Atlanta to Etihad Airways’ existing U.S. destinations, which include New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston. With the addition of Atlanta, the airline now offers direct services to five major U.S. cities, strengthening connectivity between the United States and the Middle East.
Passengers departing from Abu Dhabi benefit from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility located at Zayed International Airport. This service allows travellers to complete immigration and customs procedures before boarding, enabling them to arrive in the United States as domestic passengers. The preclearance facility, the only one of its kind in the Middle East, significantly reduces processing time upon arrival and enhances travel convenience.
Etihad Airways stated that the new service responds to increasing demand for travel between the UAE and the United States, catering to business travellers, tourists, and those visiting family and friends. The route is expected to strengthen commercial ties and provide greater travel options for both regions.
