The Mac Studio and Mac Pro, now available for order, offer unmatched performance and versatility, catering to the needs of professionals across various fields. The Mac Studio, powered by the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, boasts up to 6 times faster performance compared to the most powerful Intel-based 27-inch iMac and up to 3 times faster performance than the previous-generation Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip. On the other hand, the Mac Pro, featuring the M2 Ultra chip, is up to 3 times faster than the previous-generation Intel-based model. These new additions to Apple’s pro lineup provide an exceptional level of power and capabilities.

John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, expressed excitement about the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro, stating that they are the most powerful Macs ever created. He highlighted the breakthrough performance, enhanced connectivity, and internal expansion capabilities of the devices, making them the ultimate choice for professionals in various industries.

The Mac Studio, a performance powerhouse, offers groundbreaking performance and extensive connectivity options. With the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, it provides a significant performance boost compared to the previous generation and offers a massive leap forward for users transitioning from older Macs. With features such as a 12-core CPU, up to a 38-core GPU, and up to 96GB of unified memory with 400GB/s of memory bandwidth, the Mac Studio with the M2 Max chip is up to 50 percent faster than the previous-generation model and 4 times faster than the most powerful Intel-based 27-inch iMac.

The Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip takes performance to new heights, delivering twice the performance and capabilities of the M2 Max chip. With a 24-core CPU, up to a 76-core GPU, and up to 192GB of memory with 800GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, it offers workstation-class performance. Compared to the previous-generation Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip, the new Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip empowers 3D artists using Octane to render up to 3 times faster and enables colorists using DaVinci Resolve to achieve up to 50 percent faster video processing.

Connectivity is a key feature of the new Mac Studio, with higher-bandwidth HDMI ports that support up to 8K resolution and 240Hz frame rates. It also supports up to six Pro Display XDRs, driving over 100 million pixels. The Mac Studio features advanced built-in wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi 6E for faster download speeds and Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless connectivity with the latest accessories. With multiple ports, including Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, USB-C, and an SD card slot, the Mac Studio offers extensive connectivity options.

The Mac Pro, now powered by the M2 Ultra chip, brings Apple silicon to the forefront of high-performance computing. It combines the unmatched power of the M2 Ultra chip with the versatility of PCIe expansion, enabling professionals to customize and expand their systems according to their specific needs. With seven PCIe expansion slots, including six open expansion slots that support gen 4, the Mac Pro allows users to tailor their systems with essential cards for various professional workflows.

The new Mac Pro offers advanced connectivity, with eight built-in Thunderbolt 4 ports, two higher-bandwidth HDMI ports, two 10Gb Ethernet ports, and three USB-A ports. It supports up to six Pro Display XDRs, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3, providing professionals with fast and reliable wireless connectivity options.

Apple’s commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in the design of the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro. The devices incorporate 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in magnets, 100 percent recycled gold plating and tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards, and energy-efficient components. They exceed the ENERGY STAR efficiency requirement and are free of mercury, PVC, and beryllium. Apple aims to achieve carbon neutrality in its global operations and strives to make every product carbon neutral by 2030.

The new Mac Studio and Mac Pro come with macOS Ventura, Apple’s most advanced desktop operating system optimized for Apple silicon. The operating system offers enhanced productivity and performance, with features such as Stage Manager, Continuity Camera, Handoff in FaceTime, Safari passkeys, and the Freeform app. Users can expect a seamless and efficient experience while working with powerful apps like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro. macOS Sonoma, set to arrive this fall, will introduce even more features and productivity tools, further enhancing the capabilities of Mac devices.
